This And That Or Not Searches (Boolean)
Remember to put AS: before all of your advanced searches!
Don't forget that AND, OR, NOT have to be CAPITALIZED!
This will tell Intelligent Search that you want to make verses that have the words “sin” and “death” or verses that have “disobedience” and “death” a priority in your search. Of course, you will find the classic evangelism verse in all Bible versions: “the wages of sin is death” and “the price of disobedience is death.”

Boolean is a technical word for “using standard terms in a search to narrow the results” and is some of the oldest ways to search information. Boolean searches search for exact matches, combinations, this and that, this or that, and this not that type of information.
- Search for exactly This - Put your search item in quotes. To search for exactly John, enter “John”.
- Search for This and That in the Same Data: Put “AND” between your search terms. To search for “John” and “love” in the same verse, enter: John and love.
- Search for This and Not That: Insert NOT before the term that you don’t want. To search for “sin” without finding results with “death”, enter: sin NOT death.
- Search for This or That when with Those: Use parenthesis to group the terms. The items inside parenthesis will be processed first. To search for verses that have “sin” or “disobedience” and “death”, enter: (sin OR disobedience) AND death.
